A Gazette notification is to be issued today on increasing water tariffs, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said.

The Water Board said that as per the Gazette, the water tariffs will be increased with effect from 01st September 2022.

On 09th August, the Cabinet granted approval to revise the water charges at present.

The government said at the time that permission has been granted so that the recurrent monitoring cost and the capital loan services responsibility of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board are covered.

It has been recognized that a revision of charges to ensure the financial stability of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, and the supply of water services to the public continuously and without any disturbance is required, it added.

Thereby, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Water Supply. (NewsWire)
