National Organiser of the Socialist Students Union Rangana Lakmal Dewapriya has been arrested.
The Socialist Students Union said that the student activist was arrested by the Slave Island Police this morning.
The Union further said that Rangana Lakmal Dewapriya was thereafter taken into the custody of the Colombo Fort Police.
Meanwhile, Chaminda Kelumpriya Amarasinghe, the 2nd person who forcibly entered the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) premises during the public protests in July has also been arrested.
Chaminda Kelumpriya Amarasinghe had forcibly entered the SLRC premises with Galle Face protester Danish Ali during the anti-government protests.
The Police said Chaminda Kelumpriya Amarasinghe has been arrested after surrendering to the Cinnamon Garden Police today. (NewsWire)
