The Ministry of Defence has issued a directive to issue detention orders to three activists, including Inter-University Student’s Federation (IUSF) convenor Wasantha Mudalige.
Wasantha Mudalige, Hashan Jeewantha, and Ven. Galwewa Siridamma Thera were recently arrested following a protest march held in Colombo on the 18th of August.
The Police said the Defence Minister has given Detention Orders to detain IUSF convenor Wasantha Mudalige and the two other activists for 90 days for further questioning.
Earlier, the Police said Wasantha Mudalige and the 2 other activists have been requested to be further detained as there is a suspicion that they have committed anti-state conspiracies.
The IGP too had instructed the Police teams to investigate if there are any links between the 3 detained individuals to any acts of Terrorism. (NewsWire)
