Former Minister Mervyn Silva arrested over 2007 SLRC incident

Former Minister Mervyn Silva has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today.

The Police said the CID had arrested the former Minister over investigations taking place on an incident related to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

Former Minister Mervyn Silva is accused of having stormed into the premises of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) in Colombo in 2007.

Mervyn Silva who was the Labour Minister at the time of the incident is reported to have stormed into the SLRC with his bodyguards and had allegedly assaulted the News Director. (NewsWire)
