09 petitions filed challenging 22nd Amendment

Nine (09) petitions have been filed challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

The petitions were submitted to the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today.

General Secretary of Vinivida Peramuna Nagananda Kodituwakku, Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, and 07 others from the public had filed the petitions. 

The Attorney General has been named as the respondent.

They call on the court to issue an order stating that the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution presented by the government is in violation of the Constitution of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
