Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has given an update on fuel stocks expected to arrive in the country.

Providing an update on crude oil shipments to arrive in the island, the Minister said that a consignment of 100,000 MT of crude oil will arrive later tonight (12) and undergo quality sampling tomorrow.

He further said that a 2nd Crude Oil Cargo of 120,000 MT is scheduled to arrive between 23rd-29th of August.

Via a tweet, the Minister confirmed that both shipments are Russian Urals Crude Oil. Accordingly, the Minister further said that the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will commence operations by mid next week.

Earlier this week, Kanchana Wijesekara said that a shipment of 35,000 MT of Petrol arrived on Thursday (11) and unloading was scheduled for yesterday (12). ( NewsWire)
