Key “GotaGoGama” activist Fr. Jeewantha Peiris has been granted bail by the Fort Magistrate’s court.

Fr. Jeewantha Peiris was released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each after he was produced in court today.

The Fort Magistrate’s court, however, extended the overseas travel ban that had earlier been imposed on him.

On 25th July, the Colombo Magistrates’ Court issued a travel ban on Father Jeewantha Peiris, a Catholic priest who had been prominent in the anti-government protests.

Two days later the Police visited Father Peiris’s church and said that they had orders to arrest him taking him into custody. (NewsWire)
