President pays Parliament inauguration tea party bill

The expense for the tea party that was conducted following the ceremonial opening of the 3rd session of the 09th Parliament of Sri Lanka has been borne by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

The 3rd session of the 09th Parliament was inaugurated on 3rd August after which the President hosted all Parliamentarians. 

According to reports, the expense of the gathering amounting to Rs. 272,000 had been paid by President Ranil Wickremesinghe using his personal funds. 

Ashu Marasinghe, who is the President’s Secretary related to Parliamentary Affairs has made the payment on behalf of President Wickremesinghe. (NewsWire)
