Ceylon Bank Employees Union demands release of arrested leaders

The Ceylon Bank Employees Union has demanded the release of two of its members.

Former Chairman of the Union Palitha Etampawala and current Secretary Siriwardena have been arrested and are in the custody of the Slave Island Police.

According to sources, the two Bank of Ceylon officials have been arrested for participating in the recent anti-government protests.

They had been arrested yesterday, but the exact charges for their arrest have not been revealed as yet. (NewsWire)
