30-year-old killed in Ratmalana : 4 shooting deaths in last 24 hrs

Four individuals have succumbed to injuries sustained in shootings reported in the last 24 hours ending at 06 am today.

Underworld gangster Saman Rohitha alias ‘Pas Podda’ has died after he was injured in a shooting that was reported in front of the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Unidentified gunmen who had arrived in a vehicle had opened fire at ‘Pas Podda’ and three others who had appeared before the court over a case. 

Meanwhile, an individual has been shot to death at his residence on Silva Mawatha in Ratmalana last night. 

Two unidentified gunmen had entered the victim’s house and had shot him after which they had fled the area. 

The 30-year-old resident of Ratmalana had died after being admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital. 

The Police said a T-56 firearm had been used for the murder, while the cause for the murder is yet to be ascertained. 

Furthermore, two persons were killed in a shooting that was reported in the Galagoda area in Ambalangoda last evening.

Initially, one person was shot dead and the other was admitted to the hospital with gunshot injuries. 

However, the injured victim also succumbed to injuries upon admission to the hospital. 

The shooting had reportedly taken place at a funeral in the Galagoda area in Ambalangoda. (NewsWire)
