“He is not hiding” Minister Bandula speaks about Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s return

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is expected to return to Sri Lanka, Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said today. 

Addressing the post- Cabinet media briefing, the minister said that the former President was not in hiding in Singapore. 

The former President has visited Singapore after obtaining an official visa and has not sought refuge as claimed by certain reports. 

The minister made the comments when inquired about a complaint filed with the Attorney General of Singapore for the arrest of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and reports of his return to Sri Lanka in August. 

Minister Bandula Gunawardena further said the facts pointed out by the journalist had not been discussed at the Cabinet meeting that was held yesterday. 

Stating that he had been informed that the former President will return to the country, the minister said if there are changes then the former President will be informed by the relevant authorities. 

He added that on a political front, the government has not been informed of the travel plans regarding the former President or any specific dates for his return. (NewsWire)
