Dinesh Gunawardena appointed as New Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

Senior Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Dinesh Gunawardena has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

He took oath as the new Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office on Flower Road, Colombo today.

He has served as a Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and Leader of the House in the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

Gunawardena is the current leader of the left-wing Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) party since 1983. (NewsWire)
