Three MPs nominated for Presidency: Vote tomorrow

The names of three Members of Parliament have been nominated for the vacant post of President of Sri Lanka.

The names were nominated during the special Parliament session convened today.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s (SLPP) Dullas Alahapperuma was nominated by Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa, while it was seconded by SLPP MP G. L. Peiris. 

Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe was nominated by SLPP’s Dinesh Gunawardena and was seconded by MP Manusha Nanayakkara.

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake was nominated by National People’s Power (NPP) MP Vijitha Herath, while it was seconded by NPP MP Harini Amarasuriya. 

The vote to elect a new President will be held in Parliament tomorrow (20). (NewsWire)
