Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Chairman Prof. G.L Peiris says that since a candidate from SLPP has come forward to contest for the Presidency, the party’s candidate should be supported and not an outside candidate.

According to Lankadeepa, he further said that since SLPP has the highest number of MPs in the Parliament, it is possible for the candidate from the SLPP to win.

G.L. Peiris went on to add that MP Dullas Alahapperuma has already announced that he’s going to contest for the Presidency on the 20th and he is a highly suitable candidate.

He concluded that SLPP as a party has not taken any decision to support any other candidate for the Presidency.

Earlier today, SLPP General Secretary announced that party will support Ranil Wickremesinghe for the presidency. (NewsWire)
