School holidays extended : Schools to open on 21st

The Ministry of Education has extended the closure of all government and government-approved private schools islandwide. 

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said that all government and government-approved private schools will remain closed from 18th to 20th July. 

The Ministry further said that the new school term will commence on next Thursday, the 21st of July. 

On 3rd July, the Education Ministry said that all government and government-approved private schools will be closed from the 4th to the 8th of July due to the fuel crisis.

Thereafter, on 09th July, the Ministry said all government and government-approved schools will be closed islandwide from 11th to 15th July.

The Ministry added that the schools will reopen for the new school term on 18th July

However, the Education Ministry has now announced that the schools will remain closed until 21st July. 

With this announcement, all government and government-approved private schools in Sri Lanka have been closed for a period of nearly 3 weeks. (NewsWire)
