In a special statement, the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa stated that the mandate of the President, the Prime Minister and the Pohottuwa (SLPP) government is over. He mentioned that they have destroyed this beautiful island and that now he, with his party – Samagi jana Balawegaya – is ready to rebuild the country.

He further stated that he is ready to contribute to the program of stabilizing the country by rebuilding the country’s economy and by appointing a new government led by a new President and a Prime Minister.

The Opposition Leader also said that if anyone in the Parliament opposes this, it is an act of treason and he asked them to support him in the task of building the country.
