Special statement from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa “After much planning and hard work to address and resolve the crisis, the results are now evident”

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says measures have been taken to solve issues pertaining to the supply of gas, fuel, and essential items.

Issuing a special statement, the President said gas and fuel stocks will reach Sri Lanka by Tuesday, the 12th of July.

The President requested the public not to get misled by wrong messages spread by opposition elements.

The discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been successful and the finance programme is expected to get underway within the next few weeks. 

“After a long and well-planned effort, the country is reaping the benefits,” he added.

President Rajapaksa said the following measures have been taken to resolve the issues in the country,

  • Stocks of essential medicines have been received 
  • The first consignment of 44,000 MT of fertilizer is due to arrive from India tomorrow
  • Continuous supply of fuel, gas, and essential goods from 12th July
  • Measures are taken to introduce several agricultural programmes to prevent food shortages

The President added that the draft of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution has received Cabinet approval. (NewsWire)
