A discussion was held between the Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekara and representatives of organizations representing the transport sector today (18).

Representatives included several transport sectors, including professional three-wheelers, private busses, school and office transport services, container transport services, and commercial transport vehicles.

It was discussed in the meeting to streamline a fuel distribution process so that the above transport sectors will be able to operate with minimum hindrance during a fuel shortage.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekara has also reiterated that a fuel rationing system will be formulated soon and requested the relevant three wheels to be registered with a single fuel station once the system is in place.

MP Namal Rajapaksa also participated in coordinating the discussion along with Minister Kanchana Wijesekara. Accordingly, the Minister said that work has been initiated with the Police to expedite the process.
